Katibriah Hills

If you are visiting this page, it means you are wanting to know more about who Katibriah is.

I’m sure you are thinking, “Way to state the obvious.” Well, that’s me. I have a tendency to state the obvious, be entirely too blunt for my own good, and evidently I can intimidate people without meaning to. Most people either like me right off or dislike me greatly, or so I’ve been told. I do hope you will take the time to read through this page and get a good feel for who I am as a person. Regardless of whether you like me or not, I do hope you will enjoy the adventures shared through the written word. You don’t have to like an author/writer in order to enjoy the stories and writings they share.

So who is Katibriah Hills? That is a loaded question. Lets start with something easier. The big question I get asked alot is about my name. So let’s start there shall we. To begin, Katibriah Hills is my pen name. Katibriah is the phonetic spelling of one of my favorite characters, Catti-brie, from the Icewind Dale trilogy by R.A. Salvatore. I chose it when I was listening to an audio version of the books. The person reading one of the books in the series pronounced the character’s name kətībrīə. Upon hearing this I thought about how it would look spelled out and thus I came up with Katibriah. Hills is a version of my last name with one letter missing. This solves the mystery of my name.

Knowing about my author name doesn’t really give you many details about who I am though does it? So who am I? I am a child of God, a wife, a mother, a grandmother, a sister, a daughter, a student, a teacher, a cook, a housekeeper, a personal assistant, an assistant secretary, a computer/electronics technician, an herbalist in training, a…. well I could go on, but who has time for that. Suffice it to say I am a woman who loves God, my family, hard work and creating worlds full of adventures with stories waiting to be told.

I work for a local church as an assistant secretary and computer/electronics technician (Still not sure how that one came about!). I do my best to serve my Lord, my family, and my community to the best of my abilities. While I do this I always find myself drawn back to the world that is my imagination. I love meeting new characters and watching how pieces of their lives unfold right before my eyes. I love writing their stories down and doing my best to describe what I can see in my imagination’s eye.

As the homeschooling of my children draws to a close, I see more and more opportunities to delve into the lives of the characters filling my imaginative worlds and to share those world’s with any who wish to join in.

My biggest hope and wish is that others will enjoy the written word as much as I do.

May God bless you and yours. And may you always find an adventure waiting to unfold just around the next bend.
